SAFEKIDS PROGRAM
ALL NOR-GWYN TEAM MANAGERS AND COACHES ARE REQUIRED TO CAREFULLY READ THIS ENTIRE PAGE TO BE SURE YOU COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND AND COMPLY WITH THIS PROGRAM!
Due to insurance requirements, Nor-Gwyn has had a SafeKids program in place since 2002. This program is required to help protect our players from any potential abusive behavior that has become prevalent in the news.
Currently, our insurance company requires that a criminal background check be performed for ALL Coaches and Managers of ALL Nor-Gwyn teams within the last two years. Criminal background checks for adult volunteers and employees are commonplace for virtually all youth activities such as sports, schools, churches, and youth groups.
All Nor-Gwyn Managers and Assistant Coaches need to:
1) Complete a Criminal Record Check: https://epatch.pa.gov/home
- Select "New Volunteer Record Check", follow the prompts (Organization Name "NorGwyn Baseball and Softball") and provide your information
- Once you have submitted you will receive an email confirming you submitted.
- You will receive a second email saying that your record is available. You will need to log back into the system and access your record and save it as a pdf.
- If you completed this previously and have your certificate - your record is good for 2 years
2) Complete a Child Abuse History Certification: https://www.pa.gov/agencies/dhs/resources/keep-kids-safe/child-abuse-clearances/pa-child-abuse-history-clearance
- Click on the link for Online Submission, create an individual account, follow the prompts and complete the submission.
- You will receive an email that notifies you when your results have been processed. You will need to log back in and access your record and save it as a pdf file.If you completed this previously and have your certificate - this record is good for 57 months
3) Upload both certificates to your volunteer profile
- Log into your Sports Connect account, from the Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball homepage. This step is very important that the person volunteering has an account and is logging into it.
- On the menu, click on the Volunteer button
- If you have not registered for your specific volunteering position, please click on Find Volunteer Roles - , then select your volunteer Role.
- Once you have done this, or if you already signed up for your volunteer role, click the edit/pencil icon
- Ensure the contact information is filled out
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and under Additional Information, please click on each of the plus buttons to upload your respective clearances.
- Once you upload the documents, be certain to click save.
Upon upload, the organization will review and verify your clearances.
