2024 Nor-Gwyn Summer Sandlot Baseball

NOR-GWYN SUMMER SANDLOT GAMES

We are excited to introduce the Nor-Gwyn Summer Sandlot baseball program! Join us for an unstructured opportunity for players to come together for a fun, relaxed game of baseball, where kids make the rules, make the lineups, and make the calls.

  - No umpires
  - Player led
  - Super fun

What: Sandlot-style games
Who: Open to current or former Nor-Gwyn players, ages rising 12s (will be on 60/90 field in Spring 2025), 13 & 14 year olds.
We encourage friends and family to attend and cheer on the players!
Where: Hostelley Field
When: All games will be on Tuesday evenings beginning June 25 through the end of August.  Game times should start by 7:00. Plan to arrive between 6:15-6:30. Game time limit will be no more than 2 hours.

You don't need to attend every date to play; just come when you can! New teams formed every week!

Why: So teenagers (and families) can enjoy more time on the diamond on beautiful summer evenings.

REQUIREMENTS
While unstructured, there are some very basic requirements, which provide a safe and fun environment for the players:

Players must be a current or former Nor-Gwyn player
Players must meet age requirements (will be on 60/90 field in Spring 2025) 13 & 14 year olds.
Players must fill out a NG Athletic Waiver and Release.  There will be a check-in table for each Sandlot game.
Each dugout must have an approved adult volunteer.

Players must adhere to all player safety guidelines, such as:
- All batters must wear protective helmets, while batting and while on base.
- Catchers must wear approved catcher’s equipment.
- Pitchers will be limited to no more than 2 innings

Proper pitching distances must be followed.
Players should bring their own equipment (e.g., catcher’s gear)
Players must adhere to Nor-Gwyn’s Code of Conduct and Anti-Bullying Policy.  Any individual (youth or adult) who violates these policies will be asked to leave the facility; permission to continue playing Summer Sandlot will be at the discretion of the Nor-Gwyn Board of Directors.

WHAT ABOUT THE PARENTS & CAREGIVERS?
Parents, caregivers, and families are vital to the baseball experience. For Nor-Gwyn Summer Sandlot experience, though, that involvement stops at the parking lot. As hard as it is, that means the only thing that should be coming from the bleachers are some words of encouragement for everyone on the field, no coaching, yelling, umpiring, or trying to influence what’s happening on the field. Each Nor-Gwyn Summer Sandlot game must have one approved Nor-Gwyn volunteer present at the game site to oversee the activities. Those adults’ role is to help make sure the players are safe.  Volunteers must be approved, with a completed volunteer application and background check.
