“Presented to the individual(s) who exemplify the Spirit of Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball through the donation if their time and effort”
Nor-Gwyn is an ALL-Volunteer organization, and that is one of our core strengths. Nor-Gwyn is led by an ALL-Volunteer Board of Directors that organizes our activities and is supported by countless parents and coaches who work directly with the players. Annually, the Nor-Gwyn Board of Directors present a Volunteer of the Year Award to recognize those individual(s) who exemplify this spirit of Nor-Gwyn Baseball & Softball through their donation of time and effort.
Over the past 30 years, John Clayton has dedicated his time and energy to Nor-Gwyn Baseball and Softball. During that time, he has managed and coached 28 different baseball teams, served on the Nor-Gwyn Board of Directors as Field Director, Equipment Director, Assistant Commissioner of Youth League baseball and Tournament Team Director.
John has managed several major projects at the Nor-Gwyn Complex. The most impactful are the building of the Hawk’s Nest, and improvements to Hostelley Field, including new dugouts and major on-field re-structuring and design.
John is a big believer in volunteering and giving back to the Nor-Gwyn Organization. More than anyone else, John spends time at the Nor-Gwyn Complex, working on projects and maintaining the fields and the complex infrastructure.
In 2024, to honor John’s dedication to Volunteer Work, the Nor-Gwyn Board of Directors voted to rename the NG Volunteer of the Year Award to the John Clayton Volunteer of the Year Award.
